Congratulations to Mike Betz

UT’s new Student Government President!

“Mike Betz, Toledo ’06 and Breanne Democko won the Student Government Presidential election last night with 1,739 votes. Terry Biel and Allison Dow took second place with 1,382 votes. Betz and Democko both said they were surprised by the results. "My stomach is still turning," Democko said. "All the work we've done - it finally paid off."”

Message from the President of the Alumni Association

I would first like to congratulate our new brothers. For those of you who couldn’t come to the re-chartering celebration in April, you missed a great time. It was truly one of the best brotherhood events that I have experienced. Again, it wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for our new brothers. These men started an interest group then a colony then they brought the “Old Gal” back to the University of Toledo. Talk about the phoenix rising from the ashes!!

There is still plenty of work to do. As Alumni Association President my goals are to plan two major events: A Homecoming Tailgate party and Founders Day. Last years homecoming tailgate was awesome and I predict that this years will be much bigger and better. Look for the Alpha Sig Beta Rho Alumni Banner. Founders Day obviously went extremely well. I am confident that it will go well next year. I will be working with the undergraduate chapter and student housing to hopefully get a house in the McComas Village. I hope to have a house by the 2007 academic year.

We need to start looking for alumni brothers who might be interested in serving on the board and on the alumni counsel. My term ends at the end of this upcoming school year so we will need a new president. Pat Dalessandro, Grand Chapter Advisor position ends at the end of the school year too. So if anyone has any interest in serving on the board or counsel please let me know.

We would like to see alumni brothers participate in upcoming chapter events. These events are a summer retreat for rush, A fall rush event called "Meet the Men of Alpha Sigma Phi and the Alumni Brothers", and Pledge Initiation to name a few. The newsletter will cover all important dates. I hope everyone is ready for a new exciting year for BETA RHO!!!
