About Alpha Sigma Phi

The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi contain a lot positive qualities, and when looking for new brothers, they look for these same types of qualities. It's not easy to dissect a person's character and personality, but we made an attempt. Listed below are the five main qualities that Alphi Sigma Phi highly regards.

Leadership:

How are you supposed to lead by example if you can't be a leader? The brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi are leaders in different aspects of life. Maybe they're in the involved with Student Government. Maybe they have aspirations to run for President. Maybe they simply take the lead in study groups. Whatever the case, leadership is a quality that is not easy to get by without. Good leaders know when to make decisions or to step back and let a problem get solved by others. Leadership is important to Alpha Sigma Phi because it helps us accomplish our goals. Leadership helps us take charge of our future rather than sitting back and waiting for something happening. Heck, if nobody had good leadership skills, Alpha Sigma Phi would never have been colonized last spring and we wouldn't be where we are today!

Scholarship:

An often overlooked aspect of college is scholarship. Sure, it's good to have a social life. But what can you do with that social life after you're out of college? Scholarship goes far beyond getting straight A's (Which is, by the way, NOT a requirement for becoming a part of Alpha Sigma Phi). Scholarship revolves around caring how well you do in school and trying your hardest. Not everyone in Alpha Sigma Phi is a genius. Probably none of us are. But we help eachother out and encourage eachother to not be content "mediocre" grades. We strive for the best, and we're confident we'll achieve it!

Campus Involvement:

Alright, cool. So we're brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi. What are we going to do? Throw a little private party for ourselves? Of course not! Alphi Sigma Phi brothers know that there's much more beyond the realm of the fraternity. The University of Toledo offers so many other organizations to join besides Greek life. We try to get involved in as much as we can in order to learn what college is all about. We hope that by being more involved, we can make Alpha Sigma Phi stronger by including the talents of people from all different organizations across the campus.

Brotherhood:

You have undoubtedly bonded with people before, whether it be with family, mentors, or friends. The same type of bond is formed amongst the brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi. The bonds formed between the brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi are some of the strongest you'll experience. There is no way a fraternity can function without a bond between its members. We stick up for eachother. We work together. We do what is best for the group. Brotherhood is quite possibly the most important quality of Alpha Sigma Phi. Without it, the group would not function.

Philanthropy:

Often times, people tend to stereotype fraternities as organizations that exist merely to "socialize." Alpha Sigma Phi goes far beyond that. Besides the four qualities listed above, the brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi also find it necessary to give back to the community that has made us who we are today. Through picking up trash, holding fundraising events, or just doing a random act of kindness, we want to show the people that we appreciate them and that we care about their existence, not just our own.
